Johnnycake CLARIFICATION!!

Okay this has been really bugging me for awhile. So in S.E. Hinton's "The Outsiders" Johnny's nickname is Johnnycake. People *coughcrazypsychofangirlscough* obviously do not know what a Johnnycake really is. It is NOT cake (the cake is a lie). A Johnnycake is like cornbread that the frontier people made long ago. They ate it alot because it doesn't get stale and it was cheap. It's not sweet like cornbread is either,it's also really hard. (therefore it is NOT a dessert!)and honestly it's really gross.

Dictionary.com definition - Johnnycake -noun- Northern U.S. a cake or bread made of corn meal and water or milk, usually cooked on a griddle.

IT . IS. NOT . CAKE!!!!!!!

So there you go. Yeah I understand. It's just a cute nickname, Johnny's not hard cornbread. Thanks Sherlock.
